Cornerstone Program Mentor

requirements: Must be minimum 18 years old. Must be High School Graduate. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must complete application, interview and initial training. Must be able to commit to one year with Cornerstone. Must be able to contact buddy minimum once a week, and meet with buddy minimum once a month. Pay the $10 fee for Circle of Friends/Cornerstone membership., Background check is required
The Arc's Cornerstone Program encourages independence, increases self-esteem, and builds confidence to make positive life choices and accomplish goals for adults with developmental disabilties.
Take the lead in support and guidance of mentee.
Serve as a positive role model for peers.
Build relationship skills by creating positive interaction with mentee.
Be a leader within the community for acceptance of all individuals.
Set goals for self.
Help set goals for mentee.
Commit to mentee and the Cornerstone Program.
One-year commitment to Cornerstone and buddy relationship.
Meet with mentee minimum of once per month.
Have contact with mentee minimum once a week (phone call, e-mail, facebook, meet for lunch, etc.).
Attend the initial training session.
Attend at least two other program trainings throughout the year (offered quarterly).
Be at least 18 years old, and out of high school.
Live in Wichita vicinity.
Be dependable and consistent in meeting time commitments.
Be drug and alcohol free.
Complete the application process, including referral form if being referred.
Willing to follow the policies and procedures of the program.
Pay fee for Circle of Friends membership.
Commit to a minimum of one year.

Communicate with program staff
