Assistive Technology Camp

The Envision Assistive Technology Program is an educational and technological resource available to Kansas students who are blind or visually impaired. The program is highlighted by a week-long residential camp for students from across Kansas nominated for participation by Kansas Teachers of the Visually Impaired. The camp allows students to spend an entire week with other visually impaired teens as they participate in computer training, résumé building, and career-building activities with mentors who use assistive technology in their respective fields. Throughout the camp, students receive inspiration from prominent business professionals and community leaders and learn more about interacting in social settings, and hone business etiquette and study skills while building a solid foundation for success. It is a wonderful opportunity for the students to experience—many for the first time—the independence of being away from home. At the end of the week, students are presented with their very own computers equipped with the appropriate assistive technology software at no cost.

Envision sponsors this residential Computer and Career Transition Camp for middle and high school students. Camp will be held July 6 - 12, 2013. Skilled computer mentors are needed July 8 – 12, from 1 – 5 pm. Additional assistance may be needed on Sunday, July 7.
