Description:	VOLUNTEER: Kansas Youth Advisory Council (KYAC) Conference Wednesday June 21, 2023, 4 pm – 7 pm (10 positions open for this shift) Lawrence Doubletree Hotel, Lawrence, Ks About KYAC: Kyac Youth Advisory Councils (KYAC) serve within each region of the state. These councils are made up of youth ages 14-20 years who are currently in foster care or have transitioned from foster care. These events provide youth the opportunity to learn various life skills, promote self-sufficiency, prepare for successful transition into adulthood, and provide feedback on their experiences in the child welfare system. About the position: You will be spending the day with teens that are ready to age out of the foster care system or are already out of the system ages 14 through 20 years old. of different ages. We will need volunteers for the following: - KYAC Summer Conference – last workshop will end at 3:50pm, ask volunteers to help clean-up workshop spaces/rooms (total of 10 rooms). Next, help pack and clean up the hallway where resource booths are located. Youth are dismissed from conference at 5:30pm, after youth are dismissed ask volunteers to help clean up ballroom. Include picking up trash, packing up conference items and loading them into agency car, potential move/put away tables, chairs, etc. Requirements must: • be 21 years old. • be background checked. • enjoy having fun with kids. • be patient and kind.
