The Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, founded by the Kansas Legislature as part of the States Centennial Celebration in 1961, is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to honoring Kansas sports heroes and presenting them as role models to educate and inspire youth in all areas of their lives. Special events and ceremonies are an integral part of the programming aimed at providing a statewide outreach program for youth. In June 2010 the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame moved into the Wichita Boathouse. The Wichita Boathouse is a historic building that holds the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame and serves as an event center with a second floor banquet space that is rented out for weddings, parties, corporate events, etc.
