KanCare Ombudsman’s Office volunteers assist KanCare members and applicants in need of information, resources and solutions to concerns and issues. Volunteers gain valuable training regarding KanCare programs in order to assist some of our most vulnerable community members to access much needed resources. Volunteers are asked to volunteer 3-4 hours per week. Training occurs during scheduled volunteer time and at the pace of the volunteer’s learning preferences. The volunteer engages with clients primarily over the phone with occasional one-on-one assistance opportunities. Ideal volunteers are compassionate, lifelong learners who enjoy problem-solving and critical thinking. Successful volunteers will work well with others as well as independently.
