The Salvation Army is addressing the 44 square miles of food deserts in Wichita. They are focusing their efforts on three neighborhoods by heading out with a mobile food pantry four times a week, Monday through Thursday. The mobile food pantry provides people healthy, nutritious foods at no cost. They need two volunteers per day: one who will help to drive the unit and the other who will help to distribute food. A Case Manager will also be present. Volunteers meet at Salvation Army (350 N. Market) at 1:30 PM, load the vehicle, go to the assigned site, operate the pantry, and return by 6:30 PM. Training provided. RSVP volunteers receive excess medical, excess auto, volunteer liability ins.
