Description: | The adult support group is where visually impaired adults are able to learn from vision rehabilitation experts and come together to interact and socialize. The participants quickly feel a kinship. They learn that visually impaired people can do many things. Family members, friends and caregivers may attend the monthly meetings. Meetings focus on issues related to vision loss or blindness, including updates on diseases and treatments, low vision rehabilitation, healthy lifestyles, inspirational and motivational speakers, transportation, shopping, organizational skills, personal finance, and safety at home. Meetings often include demonstrations of adaptive aids and strategies for independent living. Envision sponsors a support group for visually impaired individuals and their families. The Adult/Senior Support Group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 9:30 - 11:30 am. Tasks include setup and cleanup and assistance during the meetings. Volunteers are needed from 9 am - Noon. Associated tasks include monthly phone calls and mailings. |
