Description: | Are you able to "treat a child as if he(she) is already the person he(she) is capable of becoming" (Ginott).? If so, the Mental Health Association of South Central KS, is looking for your super powers. Compeer is a national mentoring program hosted by MHA that serves the needs of those dealing with mental health issues (or who have a guardian dealing with Mental health issues). Currently we are interviewing for mentors for our Compeer Lunch Buddy program as well as community buddy. Volunteers are trained in mentoring and mental health while polishing their super powers before they are matched with a student. Once matched they spend at least one hour a week at the students school during lunch/recess or in the community. Provide a child with a positive role model, mentor, and caring friend; be a mentor and make a difference for you and them. *capes are optional. |
