|Requirements:||Anyone 10 or older is welcome to join us as a volunteer. Participants 15 or younger must be accompanied by a supervising adult in a ratio of at least one adult per every four children.|
|Description:||Wichita Habitat for Humanity (WHFH) will kick-off our 2018 Build Season on the Martin Luther King Day of Service. In partnership with Volunteer Kansas and the City of Wichita, WHFH will bring together over 100 volunteers to construct all of the interior and exterior walls of a five-bedroom house inside the Expo Hall of Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center.
Through this large scale service event, participants will take part in Dr. King’s enduring legacy of social justice, learn about the need for safe and affordable housing within our community, and help a hardworking family realize their dream of homeownership.
8:00 – 8:30am | Registration
8:30 – 8:45am | Welcome
8:45 – 9:00am | Overview of Tasks & Breaking into Teams
9:00 – 11:30am | Construct and stand the interior and exterior walls of the house
11:30am | Clean up & closing remarks
Participants must agree to the waiver and release of liability terms below -
I, the registrant, do hereby for myself and all who may hereafter claim through me or for me, release Wichita Habitat for Humanity and their representatives from all claims, rights, and causes of action accruing in my favor as a result of personal injury, loss of life, or loss of property while participating in the aforementioned activity.
I understand that there may be risk associated with the activity described and that I voluntarily agree to participate in the activity. I further agree that no suit or action at law shall be instituted for the above reasons by me or by others on my behalf.
I hereby agree and consent to allow Wichita Habitat for Humanity to photograph and videotape the above named person for advertising and publicity purposes and waive all claims for any compensation for such use or for damages.
Truly, the generosity of our community is on full display! We have filled all of our volunteer slots for this event. However, even if you cannot volunteer you are more than welcome to come and watch the Welcoming Ceremony and the build take place inside Century II’s Expo Hall starting at 8:30 a.m.
