Our first opportunity to recruit volunteers is for Saturday, May 6, 2023. We will be having a coney dog stand as part of the Paper Moon Festival, Wilson,Ks. Time is approximately 10-2. You will receive a free coney dog meal for your time and energy. After the close of the stand you will have the opportunity to enjoy the other activities of the festival. The festival goes until after 10 pm. Our stand is part of a funding raising event to support the summer food service program.
Feeding the Children of Central Kansas has been associated with the summer food program to provide noon meals and afternoon snacks
to children for 16 years. These meals and snacks assure the youth of the area
receive a nutritional balanced meal a day with snacks items to get
them through until supper during the summer. In 2022 we packed and distributed 23,211 lunches and snacks. Volunteers help in the packing room with filling sacks with a meal and snack. A volunteer may be used in the kitchen under the supervision of the head cook and her assistant.
